My boxer and ABD love cow tails and these stand up to two very hearty chewers! My dog loves theseMany reviews are cautioning consumers, rightly so. Any chewy treat, with or without bones or hard bits, are a choking hazard, and should always be given to your pet with your supervision to see how they consume it.My dog is a very aggressive chewer, and she will feel throat whatever she can till she throws up on the carpet. Get in the habit of watching your dog, using human words like “don’t choke” and taking it away from them if they start getting over enthusiastic about their treat. This is a great treat for dogs, if they chew on it slowly, they get a great dental cleaning with the softer raw hide, while crunching down on the spongy bone underneath. They’re cow tails, so yeah, they have some vertebrae in there. But once you teach your furry friend how to eat these properly, they will learn to slow down and enjoy the chew.Note: I had to hold the treat for my dog and help her rip off the hide at first. When she got one half of the treat down, I chose to show her that I would drill a hole through it, loop some twine through the hole, and tied it to the coffee table. She kinda hated that, but understood “oh yeah this is so I don’t choke”.Now I can give her one of these cow tails and she will slowly make her way down it without me having to hold it for her or say “don’t choke”.Dogs are like children and require supervision and learning— isn’t that the wonderful point of dogs?Don’t give up on these treats— supervise your doggos, deal with the smell, cause they love it. And we love our dogs.Bought these based on reviews. Quite a few reviews said they lasted longer than most rawhide chews. That was not the case for our dogs; both of which are heavy chewers. They didn't last any longer than the usual o es we buy. However, they are cheaper, so that is an added bonus. My dogs love these. Good value, good price. These have a awful smell. My dogs loved them! I have 2 black labs and they devoured them in less than 30 min. They are kinda soft unlike bones.Careful with this product. The larger tail chews have tiny bones inside that are suppose to be digestible. My dog has had many variations of these type of tail chews and never had issue until we purchased the "larger tails". One morning, after his first larger chew the night before, he vomited the tiny bones andl a round bone that could be considered part of the tail base close to the rump area. Looked like a big knuckle. Upon examination of the pieces, we decided to open up some of the chews to see what was inside. Keeping in mind that we had been buying cattle tails based on them being natural. Well, they are. But we're concerned that the larger or thicker tails take more to digest. Or simply shouldn't be sold without this knowledge. Additionally, if these tails are cooked in some fashion, it would explain why the knuckle type bone that our boy vomited up had shattered chips from the knuckle interspersed in the vomit. If these bones were supposed to be digestible, why weren't these small shards/chips from the larger bone digested? So, rating a 2 star because seller replied to my inquiry and offered a credit. But my husband, after cracking these tails open, decided to throw them away and has refused to buy any tails, anymore from anyone. There was also a black discoloration inside the tails. Not sure what it is indicative of, but was another thing that grossed my husband out during his investigation. So just be careful. We watch our dog when he's eating treats like these and anything new we give him. Unfortunately, he gave us no indication that he had issue with them until he vomited. Again, he wasn't new to cattle tails. But the size was new for him. What I dislike about this product it smells bad. It is what it says it is. Very pricey and my dog chew on it and I cannot find it so I think she took it so she does not have to share with her sisters.
